Company History
Kent Electric was started in 1945 by John Kent in
Casnovia, Michigan. John specialized in commercial
and residential electrical work and would wire barns,
schools, and commercial and municipal buildings.
John’s son, Richard Kent, eventually purchased the
company from his father in 1978, and would go on to
shift the focus to outside line and substation
construction. He would also change the name to Kent
Power.

Who We Are:
For more than 80 years, Kent Power has been a trusted partner in building, maintaining,
and restoring critical energy infrastructure across Michigan and the Midwest. As a third-
generation, family-owned company headquartered in Rockford, Michigan, we bring
together expert craftsmanship, safety-first execution, and industry-leading experience

remains the foundation of our business and home to most of our workforce. Our team
members live and work in the communities we serve, giving us a strong understanding

accelerating EV adoption, and rising energy demand driven by data centers and
continued economic growth. Meeting these challenges requires experienced partners
who can safely deliver reliable infrastructure solutions while helping maintain customer
satisfaction and affordability.
Kent Power remains committed to supporting utilities and communities with the
expertise, responsiveness, and long-term partnership needed to help power Michigan’s
future.
